Hubby held up the pretty blue oval frame below at a recent estate sale and asked "You want this?" with an incredulous tone. I replied "duh" with my eyes. Sweetly of course. It was half off day and he had a few dollars on him. It was imperative that I be extra nice.
Another day of housecleaning. Another day of getting sidetracked by my own stuff. I sure do like my stuff. I know all that jazz about not being able to take it with ya and all but I can't help it. From the thrill of the hunt, elaborate details, to one of a kind ancient nooks and crannies. I am fascinated by a pretty old object and all the years that it has seen. I think that the key will be to know just the right time to sell or pass by bounty on. I'll need to do while I still have my knees in decent shape so can drag my husband all over some foreign land. France, Italy, Amsterdam, Morocco perhaps. Maybe to China for goji berries.
Oh that reminds me! I have a lovely little perfume bottle that I purchased in Beijing. Where can it be? I'll have to seek high and low for it in the morning.
Years ago sis and I started picking up vintage D'jer Kiss perfume bottles. Still plentiful and affordable, they have plenty of vintage charm. We also keep our eyes peeled for anything with
Hedda Hopper on the label.

Or Mary Garden. Here is an Ebay article on Mary Garden perfumes and toiletries. Just for the record, looking this article up sidetracked big time. I lost myself searching for Mary Garden stuff on Ebay. The hubby is home on vacation so luckily I am saved from myself. I can't get into too much trouble while he hone. Well actually I can. He is just as bad as I am come to think of it. I just glanced over to the big empty jug that he brought home from an estate sale this morning.
There really isn't much available at the moment online (on Ebay) regarding the famous opera singer. Several ads and articles, but no low budget beautiful and glorious bottles to tempt me.
I do see an amazing Mary Queen of Heaven with Child that I would love to have. Here, look:
Mary Queen of Heaven with Child I'll be adding this one to my wish list for sure.

Mary Garden in costume.
How I wish I could just close my eyes, open them suddenly and see this next photo live and in color. Just for a few seconds, tht's all I ask. I'd also love to know what it feels like to sing out loud like Pavarotti or

I had better not hold my breath waiting for that to happen.
Take a look at this pair of Victorian pillowcases I discovered a lonnnng time ago at the Long Beach Flea Market. They are in desperate need of sprucing up but I just never seem to get around to it.
They're really quite stunning and elaborate, folding over "envelope" style. The ribbon appears to be original and remains bright and warm in color.
I am loathe to get the ribbon wet so this means I will need to carefully remove it before washing. Needless to say, this is why the pair remain unwashed.
These pictures are dreadful. Apparently I neglected to take full shot of this pillowcase for sharing purposes. Bad blogger.
Gotta run. Time out for late night Tastee-Freeze.

"Dear, what are you going to do with that big empty glass jug you picked up this morning?"
I don't know yet. Why?
I know. The nerve of me. I should know better. Me of all people, the Queen of Old Stuff. Ha! I just had to ask. He's my kind of guy.
