I'm trying oh so hard to part with a few things. Keep what you really really really love Valerie and thin out the rest. It's soooooooooooooo hard. I'm about to put these boots up for grabs in my shop. I just did. Click HERE.
I couldn't squeeze in all the photo's I wanted to show so I thought that I would do a short post on them.
I'm always amazed but shoes of old. Vintage and antique shoes hold up amazingly well. These shoes were apparently polished by a previous owner but it is still easy to see how wonderfully sturdy and wearable they are.
I saw a pair recently up for auction that dated to the early 1830's. Lovely, delicate, cream colored slippers that looked as if Jane Austen had just stepped out of them. In one of the shoes one could still easily read a pretty label. Oh my. I swoon to think of them even now. They sold for over $250. Oh my again. While attempting to find a picture on line of something similar, I stumbled upon Something About Mary.
Did you look? Mary has some great links to lose yourself in for awhile.
While we're at it, check
this beautiful pair with a gabillion straps out on Ebay. I want a pair like this in a bad way. Is that so wrong? I want them to fit perfectly. I want to wear them and prance around in them and glance at myself in the mirror to catch a glimpse of them, all day long. I just do.
Vintage "net" style vests, does anyone out there know anything about items such as this? I have several different pieces similar in style and I see them all the time. I'm "guesstimating" that it's from the 1920's at the earliest through maybe the 1930's. Be sure to let me know if you can shed any light on this. This one in particular is a sad little case. One can't really tell from this photo. It would be in useable and ready to wear condition except for a small brownish stain about two thirds down on one of the ruffles. I'm sure that someone who sews or who alters clothing could figure something out. Maybe I'll put it up on ETSY later and see if anyone is interested.
Note the pretty crocheted buttons?
I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with it. I've had it for so long that I hate to let it go. Maybe I could wear it so that the nasty little flaw is unable to be seen. We'll see...
