I was planning to try a quick post here but I just noticed that one of my all time favorite movies is on, Glory. This is the movie that made me fall in love with Denzel Washington. The scene where he is being whipped and he turns towards the camera with tears in his eye. I use to have the soundtrack to this movie and it would bring me to tears every time that I listened to it. The same happens every time I hear Samual Barber's Adagio for Strings. It always reminds me of a gut wrenching scene in Platoon.
Here's a quick funny story. Ok, note the photo of the half naked lady torso? Well in my last post I wrote about the wonderful time that we had selling at recent vintage fair. Hanging from our tent was this plastic torso with a lovely vintage slip. It was the very last thing, that hubby placed atop our truck at the end of the day and after packing up. He then place a tarp over everything and tied everything firmly down. Off we went.
By the time we got home we were beat. It had been 100 degrees plus. We had gotten up oh so early. Filthy & dirty. We unpacked and loaded everything back into the garage. Suddenly hubby realizes that you know who is missing. We had a good laugh but were too far gone to drive all over town looking for her. Besides, she has probably been run over about a million times. I know that we should have tracked her down but I tell ya, we were finished for the day.
Next day I receive a phone call from the wonderful fellow who was so kind as to organize the fair. Turns out that he had to head back out to the fair site that afternoon. Lo and behold what do you think he sees displayed so gracefully in front of a auto parts store. Yep. That thing. I was mortified but I have to admit that we had another good laugh. I was visiting my parents at the time and everyone got a kick out of the story.
In the end we made arrangements for me to pick her up from his front porch while he and his wife were at work.
