We never tire of exploring Tai Pan Trading in Rancho Cucamonga. This poor store opened up just as the housing market was beginning to collapse. We've been panicked ever since. Please oh please stay in business.
We like to head over there and spend the entire afternoon oohing and awing. I took my camera this last time and walked in snapping pictures. I found myself totally engrossed in picture taking.
I felt like a very bad girl, taking pictures like crazy without asking permission. At any minute, I just knew that an employee would be tapping me on my shoulder asking me to please put my camera away. Luckily it didn't happen.
When I finally came up for air and did finally tuck my camera safely away, I was pleased to realize that others were snapping pictures as well. In fact there were so many people taking pictures that management would have had to scold a good many people. I needed to have been so paranoid.
When I said good-bye to my life as a flight attendant, I also had to leave behind access to Hobby Lobby and Garden Ridge. We don't have these stores in So Cal. Once upon a time I was able to be expore and shop at Garden Ridge, Hobby Lobby, Michaels & Joanns, all in one week. Those glory days are lonnnng gone.
Tai Pan Trading is immense with high warehouse like ceilings. They make wonderful and excellent use of all that space with beautiful and spectacular displays soaring high towards the sky.
Huge paper lanterns and white themed trees.
You can't tell from this picture but the ornament above was about the size of a basketball.
These pointed silver ornaments were huge, measuring at least 3 feet a piece.
Loved these mercury glass type glass buckets. They came in the usual silver but also in the bright red you see here and green and brown. My one and only purchase of the day was a small green one for $6.95.
Normally I find nutcrackers pretty creepy but he was quite handsome and another oversized item probably standed about 2 feet or so.
This little guy was the cutest thing! No the fellow below is a different story. He freaked me out. He wasn't the only thing that scared the bejeezus out of me. The other freaky object is coming up in a bit.
Freaky little man. Elf? What is that thing? Ok. Now I feel kind of bad for saying so. Shhh. I don't like him.
Loved these little Santa's. My husband had the unexplicable urge to line them up neatly.
This green display was one of my favorites. I especially loved the way all the spiky trees looked clustered together. I suppose one could attempt the same effect with a much smaller number of tress. This many shiny green things must cost a small fortune.
This place is a decorators dream. I realize that it is hard to tell from these pictures but many of the items featured you see here were quite large. There is a huge section devoted to high quality silk and faux flowers. And yet another area featuring make believe greenery. Definitely worth a visit if you happen to find yourself nearby. No really, please stop on by. The more people that frequent this wonderful store, the better. We need this place to stick around.
A basket full-o-felt gingerbread babies.
This pair wanted to come home with me. Oh my. Had to leave them behind.
I shall end my commentary here. It seems to take so long to load picures these days and my time on the computer is precious and limited at the moment. Sometimes I have a post in limbo for what feels like eons whilst I work on it.
Oops. I almost forgot to share the second thingy that gave me the willies. This guy:
Yikes. He reminds me of Pinhead from Hellraiser. Usually I like bizarre but this guy has gotta go. Just thought I'd share.
