44.

Im000327

44 and finding myself a bit bewildered these days. Recently discovered this image and became infatuated with it. Created a few cards that I have and will be adding to my Etsy Shop.

But back to being 44 and bewildered. Woke up one day and found myself 40. Suddenly it seemed as if society was telling me that I was over and done. Unless I was a celebrity or something. Told myself that I could care less about what society thought. But after awhile you find yourself wanting to scream every time you hear the term "cougar."

Yes being 20 something is well, something else. But I honestly would not want to be 20 again. Not to offend the very young, but the world does not revolve around 16 year olds. Well on second thought. Maybe it does and this is why I'm getting all fired up about the subject.

This blog has become an incredible journey and learning experience for me. I wouldn't trade it for the world. My sister and I have both been into antiques and vintage since our early teens. We use to take bus after to bus all the way to Melrose. Back in the day they use to have some wonderful vintage clothing stores. Later in the early 90's, I use to haunt the used clothing shops in Haight-Ashbury and Berkeley. I honestly have no idea what the scene is like now in these places. I use to trade my used and vintage clothes for even more vintage clothing and baubles from the 1920's. My husband at the time (as I've said before) was not in to any of this and in the Navy to boot, so I often meandered these nooks and crannies, happily, by my lonesome.

Just feeling a little frustrated I guess. Sometimes when I am about to post something, I can't help but think, well maybe I shouldn't put that. Someone might get offended. What if a future employer sees something they don't like? What if a potential customer in my Etsy shop is upset by a comment or quote on my blog?

I guess these are things that every blogger has to ponder. Some of us are content to keep a blog as a journal, chronicling our every day life. Sharing pictures of our own with friends and family. Other bloggers blog for one reason and one reason only, to promote a shop or website. Some use their blog entirely as a creative outlet. As a crafting blog. To share photography. To vent on politics. A little of everything maybe. All equally valid reasons for blogging. Not quite sure where I am going to go with all of this. Just growing a little weary of being so cautious all the time.

Hey, is this a midlife crisis!?

Guess I could really blame some of this on my husband. He brought home Air Guitar Nation
the other night. At first I laughed and found it difficult to take seriously. But by the end of the movie I had remembered all the feeling and passion that had made me such a fan of rock and heavy metal in my younger days. The incredible energy and sheer excitement of it all.

Twenty something standing in line at the post office: That 40 something standing next to you has
Motorhead on her mind.

If you hear me knocking, I dedicate this to you:

Love the cards you created with the image. It is so pretty.
Sometimes we just don't know where all the years have gone.
You think hey that only seemed like yesterday!!!!
I say throw caution to the wind and do what ever you want with your blog. Blogland should be a place to be you and say and do what you want. Sometimes you just get sick of having to be careful with what you put in your blog but we should all be able to be the 'real us' not what we think people want us to be.
So be yourself.
Have a great week
Alison

ok, how in the world did i post my comment on the wrong post...must be old age, haha!

Another great post Val! You can be as blunt and honest as you like and I will still love ya!

I will hit 40 this Nov. and I would NEVER go back. I love the person I am now. And, oh, not to offend, but the music of today and the music of our day will NEVER compare! There was just a magic about our time.

I know you well enough to say there is no way that you are "over and done". In ways, we are just beginning!

Can't wait to read what you have to say next. I love your blog and your stories of life!

And David Bowie is Still Hot!

Very pretty picture!!! Love it.
